New York State pays more taxes than any other place in the country. Most of the money goes to schools (New York State has the largest and best school system in America) and Social Services.

According to WIVB:

"New Yorkers pay over 12 percent of what they earn just in State and local taxes. It amounts to almost $7,000 a year for the average New Yorker, compared to a national average of about $4,400.

“Most of the revenues in the state are generated in the New York City Metropolitan area. They’re redistributed back to Upstate NY.”

So what do Western New Yorkers think?
