Earlier this week, Nicolas Cage signed on to star in Vengeance: A Love Story, a film that — at the time — sounded like the most Cage-appropriate movie ever, and that title’s not even the half of it. Now comes word of another film that could give Vengeance a run for its money, as Cage is reuniting with his Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance director for Mom and Dad, a movie in which he will try to kill his own children.

According to Deadline, Cage has signed on to star in Mom and Dad, a new thriller from Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-director Brian Taylor. Taylor is best known as one-half of the directing duo Neveldine and Taylor, and worked with his partner Mark Neveldine on the Crank films, Gamer and The Vatican Tapes — a truly wacky and violent resume, which has us pretty stoked for the hopefully similarly wacky and violent Mom and Dad.

Cage will star as the titular dad in the film, which centers on a teenage girl and her little brother, who desperately fight to survive when mass hysteria mysteriously grips parents for 24 hours and drives them to murderously turn on their own offspring. Sounds like a real fun time for the whole family.

While Vengeance: A Love Story will likely give us the more serious and restrained Cage, Mom and Dad sounds as if it were tailor-made for the actor’s famous Full Cage insanity. We can’t wait.
