In an interview with NBC’s Bob Costas, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman admitted allowing the now infamous “Foot in the Crease” goal was a mistake.

When asked directly by Costas what his biggest mistake was in his career, Bettman listed three: Being defrauded by an NHL owner, signing a bad CBA contract, and finally, allowing Brett Hull’s Stanley Cup winner to count even though his foot was in the increase.

The exact quote from the interview was “allowing the foot in the crease rule [referring to the 1999 finals]...we should have not done.”

What do you think Sabres fans? Does this soften the blow 13 years later?
