Before we were assured of her big-screen 'Justice League' debut on 2015, Wonder Woman has had a hell of a time getting back into live-action. Not only did the multiple movie plans fall apart, but David E. Kelley's big-budget pilot for an NBC TV series was practically laughed into cancellation. Now, even as The CW eyes its own gritty 'Wonder Woman' reboot to follow through on the success of 'Arrow,' failed TV pilot creator Kelley believes the idea could still work on TV. Does Wonder Woman really have a future on the small screen?

The future of DC comics on TV seems bright enough, particularly given the recent success of 'Arrow,' but only three years ago David E. Kelley's 'Wonder Woman' pilot had the TV community up in arms. Despite the pilot's critical and commercial failure, creator David E. Kelley believes the idea still has potential for TV, regardless of The CW's potential reboot 'Amazon.'

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the TCA press tour, Kelley offered his retrospective of the Adrianne Palicki/Elizabeth Hurley-starring 'Wonder Woman' pilot:

I still believe it's viable for a television series. I think it's ripe to do it. We made mistakes with ours. My only regret is we were never given a chance to correct them. We had a lot that was right about it and a great cast. In time, we could have fixed what we had done wrong, we just didn't get that chance. All my series have been a work in progress to a certain extent where you figure them out by episodes three, four or five. This one actually gelled sooner than any that I have had in the past. We would have gotten there and I wish we were afforded a little more time...

We produced it at warp speed and it's a special effects show and it took more time than we were able to give it. We were able to give it more time and extended it had we been picked up. Just learning the storytelling -- the genre was very different for me and I had a lot to learn; my learning curve probably would have gotten better. I'm sad we didn't get to do it but I do believe it can work for The CW. They're smart to try it.

NBC has never formally released the pilot, but a number of leaked versions have made their way around the internet, with mixed results. The CW has yet to issue any official update on 'Amazon,' either.

What say you? Do you think Wonder Woman is still primed for a TV reboot? How would you like to see the Amazonian Princess portrayed? Sound off in the comments!
