In the '70s, there was no TV show like The Midnight Special.

Before Saturday Night Live, the best and almost only place to see rock bands on television was The Midnight Special, hosted by Wolfman Jack (no relation).

The word is that producers are shopping a new version that would run right after SNL and feature new and classic artists performing their music live.

One thing that made The Midnight Special special, was the fact that there was no lip syncing.

Unlike American Bandstand, where artists had to lip sync due to Dick Clark's time restrictions, The Midnight Special welcomed letting it all hang out and doing it live.

Now, how long until Don Kirshner's Rock Concert makes a comeback?
