Metallica have something big scheduled for Tuesday (Feb. 7) at 11 AM PT (2 PM ET), although what it is exactly is totally up in the air. The metal mavens have posted a 34-second teaser video featuring footage of fans cheering at a concert, with the phrase “You’ve seen them at festivals across the world” flashed across the screen. It then shows the names of of dozens of festivals Metallica have appeared at over the years, followed by the cryptic phrase “But you’ve never seen them…”

What could it be? Our money is on the band announcing an appearance at some major rock festival, although that’s just a guess (although a pretty good one, we’re guessing. Really, what else could it be? The video obviously never says what it is, but it does kinda go ahead and spell it out, doesn’t it? Let’s just say if it is something else, we for one will be very surprised.

Of course what that leaves open is which festival they will be playing. Sorry, can’t help you there. There’s too many festivals every year to keep track of which ones Metallica haven’t yet played, which ones haven’t announced a lineup for the year, and then figure out where they intersect. Guess we’ll all just have to wait until Tuesday to find out with you.

In the meantime, check out the mysterious video that started this whole guessing game below.
