Buffalo is home to hundreds of talented, hard-working musicians, and Jack FM is ready to give them the recognition they deserve. Welcome to our new weekly feature, the Buffalo Band of the Week, sponsored by Headspace Glass. Each Thursday, we'll give you the deets on a band active in the Western New York music scene.

And so, without further ado, meet our first band!

What's up Buffalo!? We are Nicholas Bruckman (vocals and guitar), Jack Giangrosso (drums), Jordan Strychalski (guitar, keys and synth) and Chris Stresing (bass and synth), otherwise known as The B-Side Dubs.

We like to describe ourselves as an experimental dub reggae band. Our sound has a reggae vibe, but by using analog and digital effects, it's given a more modern, electronic feel. We definitely have a melting pot of musical influences. In no particular order: Rockamovya, Sublime, Stick Figure, Radiohead, Incubus, Phish, Animal Collective, Gorillaz, Slightly Stoopid, Passafire, Smashing Pumpkins and Pink Floyd. We all have very different musical backgrounds.

Wanna hear how it all comes together? Take a listen to our song "Roots":

If you could create your dream tour, which bands would you bring with you, and why?

Dream tour? Bob Marley would headline, Foo Fighters would be there, [as would] Pearl Jam, and Jack insists Phish will be there. This will all take place on a wooden stage built by Jesus Christ himself, and we would have an endless supply of Honey Jack and Bud.

What are your favorite local venues to play? What if you're seeing a show?

We really like playing at Nietzsche's, The Tralf Music Hall, Club Infinity, the Willow Creek Winery and Mohawk Place, to name a few. Some other cool places to go see live music around town are the Buffalo Harbor, Artpark, Town Ballroom, Soundlab and Jordan's dad's house.

What is the most random thing we'd find in your band house/practice space? Whose is it, and why is it there?

The most random thing in our band house has to be a 2-foot, 40-pound Jesus statue that we randomly acquired at a show one time. Another band we played with brought it as their mascot and forgot it, so we gave it a home in the band house! We are not particularly religious, although Jesus has come up a lot so far, haha.

What's next for The B-Side Dubs? Where can we find you around town?

We are coming off of a pretty busy show schedule right now. We've traveled to a few states on the East Coast and are now focusing on releasing our first full-lengh album, titled Worlds Apart, recorded here in Buffalo at GCR Audio.

[For] some of our next shows, we are traveling to Akron, Ohio, [and] Mojo's Music Bar in Jamestown, and [we] plan to book some local shows over the winter. You can check everything out on our website. We are also on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and iTunes.
