One of the top concert events of the coming week will take place in Los Angeles as an all-star lineup will gather at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles to salute newly minted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple) and Robin Zander (Cheap Trick) with a tribute show. But in the midst of all the stellar performances, there will be a live auction taking place with a pretty impressive list of music memorabilia going under the hammer.

The show was organized by the Adopt the Arts organization headed up by Matt Sorum and actress Jane Lynch. The organization has been instrumental in helping maintain music programs in the Los Angeles United School District in recent years and the proceeds raised by the show and auction will help further Adopt the Arts' contributions. "We're starting in our own backyard here in Los Angeles, and we'll continue to adopt schools across the nation," explains Sorum. "We believe that music and art are universal and necessary languages that unite us all, regardless of our backgrounds."

Among the items going on the block is a signed guitar from Metallica, along with signed instruments from Slash, Joe Perry, Brian May, Dave Grohl, Journey, Maroon 5 and Elton John guitarist Davey Johnston. There will also be two guitars auctioned signed by all of the players at the Adopt the Arts benefit. Those players include Matt Sorum, Geezer Butler, Steve Jones, Corey Taylor, Gilby Clarke, Billy Duffy, Robert and Dean DeLeo, Steve Lukather, Chad Smith, Franky Perez, Stevie Salas, Paul III, Damon Fox and DJ Morty Coyle. In addition, Robin Zander and Glenn Hughes will be on hand for the show.

Other items of note include a Black Sabbath fine art piece from Shepard Fairey, an Iggy Pop signed Raw Power screen print, a Black Sabbath signed silver black crescent print, signed drumheads from Matt Sorum, a Sammy Hagar package that includes a signed cookbook, two bottles of Bum Rum and two t-shirts, a VIP meet-and-greet package for Joan Jett and Cheap Trick's upcoming L.A. show at the Forum and a wealth of other items.

As for the show itself, it promises to be a memorable night saluting the music of two legendary rock bands. "I'm extremely honored to be accepting an award from such an admirable charity, Adopt the Arts," explains Glenn Hughes. "Matt Sorum has gone to great lengths to help create a program for children to have musical instruments in their lives and in turn to provide love and harmony in our lives. I'm humbled and grateful. See you at the event at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood on Thursday, May 12. I'm really looking forward to performing for you all, let's make it a magical night."

"All of my career I've been involved in promoting the arts in elementary schools and I'm proud to be part of Adopt the Arts Honors," adds Robin Zander. "My thanks goes out to the foundation and I hope that fans everywhere will come and join us for a successful evening of fun, music and fundraising. See you there."

The show is set to take place this Thursday (May 12) at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, complete with red carpet arrivals before the fun starts inside. You can get tickets for the concert and auction here.
