Well, it looks like we're never going to see Taylor Swift portray Joni Mitchell in a proposed movie about pioneering women singer-songwriters. And the person we have to thank for that? Joni Mitchell, herself.

"I squelched that!" Mitchell told the Sunday Times. "I said to the producer, 'All you've got is a girl with high cheekbones.' It's just a lot of gossip, you don't have the great scenes."

Back in 2012, Swift was pegged to star as Mitchell in the movie adaptation of Sheila Weller's book 'Girls Like Us,' which traces the stories of Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon, all of whom rose to stardom in the '70s and became icons of feminism for their largely autobiographical style of songwriting. At the time, it was reported that Jessica Pare ('Mad Men') was looking to play Simon with Alison Pill ('The Newsroom') contending for the role of King.

Mitchell has frequently decried how she has been portrayed in the media, and Weller's book appears to be no exception. "There's a lot of nonsense about me in books," she continued. "Assumptions, assumptions, assumptions."
