I was super excited to write this blog. Football season is awesome and after a painful off-season, I am stoked for opening weekend. It’s a time of year when us Bills fans still have hope. We’re still (kind of) optimistic.

But I looked at the calendar and realized that one of my favorite days of the year falls on one of the worst. It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since that ill-fated day. To me, it seems like it happened yesterday.

There is some significance to football being played on this monumental anniversary. It’s like a big middle finger to those who hate America. It’s like we’re saying, “Hey. F--- you. We’re still going and there’s no stopping us.” And knowing Americans and how much we love our country and our football, we couldn’t have asked for a better stage to honor the memory of the fallen.

Here’s to those we’ve lost. Here’s to the heroes. Here’s to all of us who will never forget, but choose to live on. Here’s to America.

Go Bills.
