It’s Fourth of July weekend. One of the best times of the year – except for my dog. He hates fireworks. And the heat. But, for most people, it’s a time for sunshine (hopefully), friends, fun, adult beverages and relaxation. Ahhh, take it all in.

So is it pessimistic of me to think of the Fourth as being the halfway point of the summer? I realize that it’s not. But to me, it feels that way. There’s so much fun yet to be had, but I can already feel the days getting shorter.

Too dramatic? Maybe. Am I Debbie Downer? Definitely.

But let us not dwell on this and enjoy the long weekend for what it is. Raise a glass to our independence. And here’s hoping the next winter goes as quickly as every summer always does.
