With the official start of summer just a few weeks away, Western New York is ready to kick off the 2012 Festival Season.

An event that began back in 1958, the Allentown Art Festival (originally known as the ”Buffalo Art Festival”) started as a small art show to help with the rebirth of a unique part of Buffalo called “Allentown.”

The very first “Buffalo Art Festival” was such a success that the city decided to bring it back the following year, and since 1959 the second weekend of June has been known as Art Festival Weekend in Buffalo. The event’s name was eventually changed to the “Allentown Art Festival” in 1966, and is often referred to as the “Allentown Outdoor Art Festival.”

The 2012 Allentown Festival runs this weekend (June 9th & 10th) from 11:00AM-6:00PM along Delaware Avenue and Allen Street in downtown Buffalo... And heck, if you're not interested in the arts, it's a great place to people watch and have a few good laughs!
