It’s the weekend and the forecast is GORGEOUS!  Definitely do not waste time spring cleaning or gardening.  This weekend make sure you go out and have an adventure!

Today and tomorrow at Allegany State Park is their Geobash VII.  I can hear you know asking what Geobash is.  Well I will tell you!  The Geobash is an event devoted to geocaching.  If you don’t know what geocaching is then this is the perfect time to check it out.  I’ve done it a few times at Allegany and also in the city of Buffalo and I must say it’s a lot of fun.  The short description of Geocaching is it’s a big treasure hunt.  A geocache is a box of trinkets.  The box is then hidden.  What you have to do is take the GPS coordinates put them into your GPS and then find the box.  The GPS coordinates are posted on the website.  It’s really a lot of fun.  Geocachers locate the hidden box using a GPS receiver, trade a trinket, sign the log book in the cache container, and post a log of their adventure online.  If you’re one for an adventure and looking for something to do with a group of friends then this is a definite must for your weekend!

Another great adventure for your weekend is to take a hike at Hunters Creek Park in Wales.  When I was a little kid my parents would take me all the time to this park and it still to this day is one of my favorites.  Tomorrow starting at noon you can join guides Carl and Rose for hike at Hunter’s Creek.  These 2 guides will show you how to locate vortexes, crystals and other phenomenon located in the park.  The hike is geared for children but adults any age can join in on the hike.  The group is going to meet at the Hunter’s Creek lot located on Centerline Road and will last about an hour and a half to two hours.  If you’re going to head out for this one make sure that you dress appropriately (Hiking boots preferable. I’m pretty sure you’re new stilettos are not the best choice.) , bring water, bug repellant, and a back pack.

Finally one last adventure to finish off your weekend, make sure you check out the Tifft Nature Preserve tomorrow for their May Marsh Walk with the Friends of Tifft Nature Preserve.  This is the perfect to go outside and get dirty!  You’ll spend the day with the Friends of the Tifft Nature Preserve for a scavenger hunt around the marsh.  Learn all about the animals that call Tiffts marsh home.  The event runs from 2 to 4p and the Tifft Nature Preserve.
