Over the weekend, Terry Pegula continued to make good on his promise to honor the Buffalo Sabres tradition by bringing back Dominik Hasek. The Sabres responded with an 8-2 whipping of Atlanta. The Sabres have a history of Vezina winning goalies from the tandem of Don Edwards and Bob Sauve to Tom Barasso, and today Ryan Miller. But none of them compare to Hasek. Hasek was a wonder to watch, his saves as unbelievable as they were unorthodox. He just turned 46 in January, and continues to play professional hockey in Russia.  People here unfairly criticized Hasek for not winning a Stanley Cup in Buffalo, but he carried the team in 1999 and had an unparalleled passion for the game that made him a winner everywhere he went.  Raising #39 to the rafters is an honor that is long overdue for Hasek.
