Remember when Gregg Allman canceled some shows last month because of "serious health issues"? Turns out the 68-year-old singer had pneumonia.

In a new interview with the Denver alt-weekly Westword, Allman revealed that it was pneumonia that sidelined him in early August and forced him to cancel a few tour dates. "That was a drag," he said. "I was almost to the end of a tour. I had two more to go, and damn, it just set in. I had to postpone two of the gigs, but we’ll go back and make them up, for sure."

At the time, it was announced that all of Allman's remaining tour dates through an Oct. 16 appearance at the Clearwater, Fla., Jazz Festival were on hold. A press release noted that Allman was “currently under his doctor’s care at the Mayo Clinic.”

Allman will return to the stage this weekend for his Laid Back Festival near Denver. He'll play an acoustic set and then get back to recuperating before he hits the road again for another Laid Back Festival appearance, this one in Atlanta on Oct. 29. He then has 10 shows scheduled for New York in early November.

This wasn't the first hiccup on Allman's latest tour in support of last year's Live: Back to Macon, GA. In April, his bus crashed in West Virginia en route between concerts. Three members of his crew were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Allman, though, was not hurt.
