Is it just me, or does this new 'Green Lantern' film from Warner Brothers look brutal? It seems as though only true comic book fans even know the story of the Green Lantern. Since I am not one of those people, allow me to fill you in.

A test pilot is granted a mystical green ring that bestows on him extraordinary powers. With these powers comes the membership into an intergalactic squadron that is in charge of keeping the peace throughout the universe....Yeah.

I guess I could see the story possibly having some substance, maybe. But then the filmmakers had to go ahead and cast Ryan Reynolds as the lead. Don't get me wrong, 'National Lampoon's Van Wilder' and 'Waiting' are two of the funniest movies I have seen, but this just doesn't fit. We are used to seeing Reynold in a comic and mainly sarcastic role. I do not see how this will translate to 'Green lantern'.

The estimated budget for this film is $150,000,000. As companies often do, the Warner Brothers studio pumped out major cash for a summer super hero movie. The problem with this one is that few even know the story of the 'Green Lantern'. If they are expecting to make a solid gain on this film, the better hope Reynolds delivers.

I have been surprised by films before and it is important not to judge a movie before you see it. However, I just can't see this one going right.  Here's the trailer, I'll let you decide...Oh and if you're interested in winning some tickets to see The Green Lantern, WIN EM HERE
