If ‘The Godfather’ Were Rebooted, Who Would Play Each Role?
‘The Godfather’ should never be touched. We’re referring to both the fictional character and the entire movie franchise. It can never be improved upon (fine, the third movie needs a little work) and remains one of the greatest treasures in cinema.
Unfortunately, Hollywood will screw with it…eventually. Maybe not in five, or even ten years, but a studio will eventually throw so much money at Francis Ford Coppola, or whoever will own the rights to the movie at that point, and a new Godfather will get the green light.
While true fans hope a new movie would continue the saga of the Corleone family, Hollywood is a fan of the reboot. “Forget new characters,” they’ll say “People want to see the faces and names they love.” NO WE DON’T BUT THAT WON’T STOP YOU NOW WILL IT HOLLYWOOD?!?
Let’s pretend that a ‘Godfather’ reboot got the green light, like, tomorrow. The rumors alone would be fascinating. Who could ever do what Pacino did? Who’s got the chops to play the hot-headed Sonny? Is there an actor alive with the gravitas to play Don Corleone?
Just for fun, and before Hollywood ruins the franchise, our editors put together a possible cast for a potential ‘Godfather’ reboot.
Meet the new Corleone family.
Steve Schirripa as Luca Brasi
Bobby Cannavale as Tessio
Stephen Graham as Clemenza
Zachary Levi as Carlo
Emma Watson as Kay Adams
Anne Hathaway as Connie Corleone
Adrian Brody as Fredo Corleone
Tom Hardy as Santino "Sonny" Corleone
Paul Dano as Tom Hagan
Emile Hirsh as Michael Corleone
And Don Corleone
Honestly, we couldn't think of one actor who could portray Don Corleone. Otherwise, we think we nailed the entire cast. Think we're dead wrong? Leave all your suggestions, comments and vitriol in the comment section.
