Halloween is great time of the year.  Hayrides, corn mazes, and of course the haunted houses!  If you have little ones though you try not to scare them too much or else the entire family will be up all night watching out for monsters!  This weekend make sure you take the children to some friendly Halloween events they will love!

This event I particularly love to the little ones!  This weekend and next weekend at the Buffalo Zoo is their Howl-O-Ween Hayrides.  I’ve gone to this year in the past and I will say the little kids love it!   It’s the 16th year for the event and each year they go all out.  Everyone will get a chance to enjoy the treat station that are set up at each animal house,  hayrides, games for the kids, and of course there will be apple cider and donuts!  What kind of Halloween party will it be if there wasn’t apple cider and donuts!  Along with that the Zoo does encourage the children to come dressed up in their Halloween costume because during the event they can join in on the costume parade!  The evening will offer an early, safe, and fun Halloween experience for kids of all ages.  We always make time to take our little one to this and she LOVES it!  Howl-O-Ween Hayrides at the Buffalo Zoo is open this weekend and next weekend from 4:30pm to 7pm.

Also thinking about great fall activities for the little ones how about letting them get lost for a while.  I mean literally! Get lost for the day among the corn stalks at Ressler’s Corn Maze in Arcade.  This one is definitely my favorite one!  They are open now till the end of October.  Spend the day with family and friends getting lost in their fantastic corn mazes, take a couple shots with the corn cannon, take a ride on their hayride and cow train, play for a while in their corn box (yes just like a sand box but with corn!), and even get a pumpkin in the patch!  Oh and while you’re there definitely check out the Hay Jump and jumping pillow!  It’s all at the Ressler’s Corn Maze in Arcade.

Finally this weekend is another fun event at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence.  This is the 5th weekend and it is their Hand Free World Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship.  The weekend I was there they had done an amateur pie eating competition and I have to say that was impressive to watch.  Now it’s the professional chance!  I can’t imagine how many slices they will eat!  Spend the weekend watching professional eater try for the world record of eating pumpkin pie!  Along with that tomorrow they have the Ms. Pumpkin Pie USA talent Contest and Pig Racing!  It’s really an exciting weekend there!  Along with that you’ll get to experience everything else that the Farm has to offer like Hayrides, Corn Mazes, rides, Face Painting, and of course zillions of Pumpkins for you to choose from!  Check it out!  This weekend the World Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship at the Great Pumpkin Farm!
