The San Francisco 49ers finally won their first game of the season on Sunday when they beat the New York Giants and one of the key plays in that victory came on an 83-yard touchdown catch by former Buffalo Bills receiver Marquise Goodwin.  What many people didn't know is that Goodwin was playing the game just hours after he and his wife suffered the tragic loss of an infant son who was born prematurely.

It was Goodwin's first touchdown as a member of the 49ers.  Before he crossed the goal line, he blew a kiss to the sky and when he was in the end zone he dropped to his knees, made the sign of the cross and cradled the ball like a baby.  It wasn't until later that he revealed what had happened earlier in the day.

It was in September when the couple revealed that they were expecting, but because of complications the baby had to be delivered prematurely.  The little boy died a short time later. Goodwin shared the story publicly on his Instagram account.

It was just a few weeks ago that Buffalo Bills tight end Logan Thomas and his wife lost a baby born prematurely.  It happened during the week the Bills were preparing to play the Oakland Raiders.  After the Bills won that game coach Sean McDermott presented Thomas with the game ball.
