Did anyone happen to catch the story about the Texas man who spent 30 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit? Wow. Thirty years.

In this day and age, we’re lucky to have exceptional DNA testing, which is exonerating innocent people of crimes they’ve been put away for. While it’s amazing that we have this kind of technology, I just don’t understand how some of these freed people can forgive.

The state of Texas basically took away this man’s life. He was incarcerated at age 21 and spent the next 30 years behind bars. Now he’s a free man and gets a nice – untaxed – $2.4 million check from the state. (I call it the “Oopsie” check.) But no amount of money can buy back that time he missed out on. If someone did that to me, I’d be pretty POed.

Maybe prison makes a person stronger. Maybe they teach you how to let go of the bad and relish in the good.

If so, I know some people who could use a little time behind bars.
