It's weird seeing the gray hairs popping out of Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, and Mike Mills. But they are Rock-n-Roll Hall of famer's'.  But, I've always thought of R.E.M.  as the true definition of Alternative Music, at least before 1988 (R.E.M.'s popularity flourished in the late 80's and early 90's, but for die-hard fans those were the sellout years).

Today, R.E.M. released the first single from their new album, "Collapse Into Now," due out March 8th and thankfully, "Mine Smell Like Honey" and the rest of the tracks they preview, sound more like the IRS years, than the Warner Brothers Years. If you've been following the band's last few albums, they seem to have dumped the "Losing My Religion" formula in favor of that raw sound we grew to love pre-1987. The bands last album "Accelerate" was incredible and based on the first glimpse of  "Collapse Into Now" I'm looking forward to the new album.
