Not only are the Buffalo Sabres 5-0-2 in the Terry Pegula era, they’ve been playing great since mid-december, making them the team no one wants to face in the first round of the playoffs. Wins over the weekend against the number one team in the east, the Philadelphia Flyers, and last night against the Minnesota Wild vaulted the Sabres into Eighth place. The trick is staying there. The Sabres will try to move up in the standings and wins this week in Pittsburgh and Boston would help them do that.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Buffalo Sabres have spent five months climbing up a very large hill. They lost their first seven home games and were last overall in the NHL in the first week of November. They were a ramshackle outfit filled with underachievers, hardly befitting of a division winner coming off a 100-point season.
