Elton John and Paul Simon were among the stars who helped raise more than $80 million at a benefit held Monday night (May 13) in New York City. Bono and Sting also were on hand at the 25th anniversary Robin Hood Foundation gala at Jacob Javits Center.

The event raised money to help fight poverty in the New York City area. According to The Wall Street Journal, John kicked off the performances with a version of ‘Tiny Dancer,’ which he sang while attendees ate dinner. Simon, who wasn’t scheduled to appear at the event, then performed ‘The Boxer.’

Sting then joined Simon for a duet on ‘Fields of Gold.’ He also cracked a rare joke. “We’ve started a new band,” he told the audience. “It’s called Simon and Stingfunkel.”

R&B singer Mary J. Blige closed the night and was joined onstage by John, Sting and Bono. Jerry Seinfeld and Louis C.K. also performed comedy sets during the event, which netted $21 million more than the previous year’s benefit.
