Did Buffalo Make the List of Dangerous Cities for Drivers?

Car crashes are among the leading causes of death in the U.S., but according to a CDC report, Buffalo is actually pretty safe. Where you live affects how much danger you are in, and Buffalo fares well.

How well we’re not sure. They didn’t actually rank how safe each city is, but the fact that we are in that group is pretty comforting.

Four Florida cities were deemed to be dangerous, with Orlando topping the list. Before you say that’s from all the old people moving to Florida, statistics still show that most accidents still come from that 15-24-year-old age group.

Researchers compared rates of motor vehicle crash deaths across cities and the 50 most densely populated metropolitan areas in the U.S. to figure out the 50 most dangerous and safest cities.

The 10 most dangerous cities for drivers:

  1. Orlando, FL
  2. Memphis, TN
  3. Glendale, TN
  4. Miami, FL
  5. Las Vegas, NV
  6. Birmingham, AL
  7. Sacramento, CA
  8. Tampa, FL
  9. San Antonio, TX
  10. Jacksonvile, FL

The 10 safest cities (not ranked because there were no significant differences. Here they are in alphabetical order):

  • Boston, MA
  • Buffalo, NY
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Hartford, CT
  • Newark, NJ
  • Plano, TX
  • Providence, RI
  • Salt Lake City, UT
