Is Van Halen getting ready to release some new music?

It's probably safe to say that most Van Halen fans have long since learned to cope with the fact that the band operates on its own timetable, and there's been no official indication that we're anywhere near hearing a full-length follow-up to their most recent LP, 2012's 'A Different Kind of Truth.' But recent comments made by frontman David Lee Roth seem to indicate that something is going on behind the scenes.

Roth issued an update during the latest installment of 'The Roth Show,' an ongoing series of videos uploaded to his YouTube channel. During the 23-minute clip, which promises to "[bring] us up to speed on what he's been doing lately," Roth teased, "Doing some catching up here, a little bit of a scrapbook. We've been doing a lot of traveling. Working on a great Van Halen project -- can't announce anything or I'd have to come find you and swear you to secrecy."

Roth being Roth, he could be hinting at just about anything here: an old demo unearthed, a book of pictures from the 'Different Kind of Truth' tour, some new band merch, or something so wacky that no one else would think of it (or call it great). With Diamond Dave, you never can tell -- and with Van Halen, it could be years before we hear anything else about it. (Then again, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen also recently said the band was busy in the studio...)
