Our economy is in the toilet.

A 6-year-old boy who asked his dad for $20 got the surprise of his life when dear ol' dad wrote him a formal letter, since posted on Imgur, rejecting the request.

The letter was written on letterhead that looks eerily similar to the ING logo, spells it out in the type of financial mumbo jumbo that no child will understand, which makes it even funnier:

The letter says:

We regret to inform you at this time that we are unable to provide the loan in the amount requested of $20. After reviewing your account, we find that you have insufficient funds, and a history of not doing your chores.

Furthermore, over $80 has been spent in discretionary entertainment expenditures since Christmas. This is an unsustainable amount of expenditure, and we cannot further compound the problem by financially assisting with [accruing] further debt at this point.

If you would like to refute this decision, you can contact our complaint department at [xxx-xxx-xxxx]. Our dispute manager at this number may be able to persuade us to reverse our decision.

Thank you for choosing DAD Savings and Loan, we appreciate the chance to serve your financial needs.

Sincerely,

Dad

Pity the poor child. He ought to think long and hard about doing his chores -- or maybe hitting up Mom Savings and Loan.
