Just days after hinting at a possible new album in the works, Coldplay told a sold-out Australian audience that they would be taking a three-year hiatus from touring.

Frontman Chris Martin announced at the group's final concert of their current tour in Brisbane last week that "this is the last big show for three years or so.”

The band has been on the road supporting last year's 'Mylo Xyloto' for most of 2012. They still plan to play a New Year's Eve concert with Jay-Z in Brooklyn next month, but after that, it could be at least another three years before Coldplay return to a stage.

Martin spoke to an Australian radio station earlier this week and mentioned that their next album, their sixth, would have a more pronounceable title than the latest one. But we're guessing it'll be a couple of years until we see if he keeps his word.
