I understand that the weather is getting colder outside but that doesn’t mean you have to be a couch potato all winter long.   There are still some amazing places that you and the family can visit.

First of all bundle up the family and head out doors.  Seriously the going outdoors thing will get harder and harder the more snow we get and the colder the weather gets so take advantage it now while the weather is now ridiculously cold.  One of my favorite places to get lost in is at Beaver Meadow Audubon Center.  I’ve been going to this place since I was a kid and my grandparents would drag me there for a picnic.  If you have never been to Beaver Meadows this is the perfect opportunity for it!  Beaver Meadow Audubon Center is a 324 acre preserve with over 8 miles of trails to explore.  I know what you are thinking and yes there are beavers at Beaver Meadows!  That best part of this place is when you get to see a shelter that was made by a beaver or even better when you get to spot a beaver.  You wouldn’t believe the variety of animals and birds you’ll be able to get a glimpse of when you’re wander through the woods.  The Visitor Center house live animals, displays, and even a discovery room you can get your hands on.  During the year no matter what the temperature is they offer a ton of indoor and outdoor programs for all ages.  Along with that you can even check out their cross country skiing and snowshoeing that is available.  Beaver Meadow Audubon Center is located on Welch Road in North Java.

Another amazing place to check out this year especially while it’s cold out is the Buffalo Museum of Science.  Until recently, I think the last time I had been to the Science Museum was when I was in grade school.  Let me tell you this place has grown!  I know it’s technically learning and that stuff is suppose to be learning but this stuff is interesting!  The Buffalo Museum of Science offers entertainment for the entire family!  Every few months they keep it fresh too by change the main exhibit.  One time it’s the kings of Egypt then the next is all of the ideas and machines of Da Vinci!   In the museum you’ll get the chance to check out special traveling exhibits, 3D Cinema, and a ton of interactive exploration galleries for the youngest scientist.  Going on now through January 8 is the exhibit Journeys into Papua.  The exhibit features the PGT Black collection of Pacific Island artifacts.  Get lost inside the Buffalo Museum of Science and open yourself up to a whole new world!  The Buffalo Museum of Science is located on Humboldt Parkway in Buffalo.
