City Under Siege is made up of two members: John Wittlinger (lead vocals, guitar and piano when needed) and Ryan Wiesner (drummer, background vocals and synth).

Our genre is basically pop/power pop/punk. We find it hard to describe our music, but it is a mix between bands like Relient K, Sanctus Real and old-school Brand New. Then throw in something like Ke$ha once in a while, and you'd have us!

Our musical influences range from classic rock, like Zeppelin and motown, which is what John grew up on, to Ke$ha and 3OH!3. Ryan is more of the pop fan, but John tends to gravitate more towards bands like Blink 182, Relient K, Sanctus Real, A Day To Remember and Rise Against. But we also listen to stuff like Mumford & Sons, and The Black Keys. So really, we listen to anything good.

If you could create your dream tour, which bands would you bring along with you and why?

John's dream tour would be Relient K, Anberlin, KISS, Motley Crue and Blink 182. It's an eclectic bunch, but he'd do it because those dudes know how to party, and they are road warriors! They are all huge influences, so it would be a dream come true to tour with them.

You guys just wrapped up a tour, actually. What did you miss the most about Buffalo?

Yeah, we just toured with Ryan Cabrera and Rookie Of The Year! The thing John missed the most is the bars being open till 4 a.m.! And Canadian beer. You don't realize it until you go to all these different cities, but the only other two cities we went too that stay open till 4 a.m. are NYC and Chicago. Everything else closes down at like 1 a.m. or 2 a.m.

What was the coolest city you played in? What places were you looking forward to visiting?

John always loves going back to Chicago. It has to be one of his favorite cities. But the coolest place we played would probably be at The Knitting Factory in NYC! It's legendary, so we've always wanted to play it, and we finally did this tour!

What's next for City Under Siege? Where are you performing next?

We are going to be playing Mohawk Place on November 14 with Young Blood, a new band from Rochester. We will be doing a short, five- or six-day tour with them following that. Look for us in places like Erie, Olean, Bath and Albany.

We are writing new material right now and going down to Atlanta in December to record with a producer by the name of Matt Malpass. He is a great producer who has worked with Manchester Orchestra, Relient K, Rookie Of The Year and many more!
