CBS didn’t show us anything new by the official 2017 Star Trek teaser, but will the same be true of its other new franchises Training Day, or MacGyver? Judge for yourself, as the latest movie-TV reboots get official trailers fro the 2016-17 season, looking far different than anything you remember.

Set in modern L.A. 15 years after the events of the Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow film, CBS’ new Training Day will follow “an idealistic young African-American police officer appointed to an elite squad of the LAPD where he is partnered with a seasoned, morally ambiguous Caucasian detective.” In addition to Bill Paxton and Justin Cornwell in the lead roles, Training Day stars Drew Van Acker, Katrina Law, Lex Scott Davis and Julie Benz.

Meanwhile, the oft-reworked young MacGyver series will still star X-Men alum Lucas Till in the title role, as well as George Eads, but lose the remainder of its cast (and potentially a showrunner) to undergo a third round of redevelopment.

For the moment at least, Training Day is on hold for midseason, while MacGyver will air Fridays this fall. What do we make of either?
