Head over to the Country Peddlers Ice Cream Shoppe in West Seneca if you're looking for unique flavors of hard ice cream. We tried the Chocolate Covered Banana ice cream (banana ice cream with chocolate covered chunks) and it was delicious! We were tempted to try everything in the shoppe, from their ice cream cakes to their homemade gelato.

Fresh, homemade custard is a dying art. Most ice cream places dispense their custard from a machine made from a pre-ready mix. Hibbard’s in Lewiston still dishes it’s custard hand-scopped and it doesn’t get any tastier than that. The vanilla swirl with sprinkles was to die for, and if you’re not in the mood for ice cream they serve up a mean homemade selection of red potato fries too.

2 Scoops Ice Cream

The first thing you'll notice about this place is their wacky, didn't know that existed ice cream flavors. 2 Scoops is great for the daring eater with choices like Fireball, White Lightning, and Rocky Mountain Raspberry. I decided to be daring on my trip to 2 Scoops and try two flavors that not only sounded weird but just didn't sound like there was any way to make these ice cream flavors tasty. I chose Bittersweet Symphony and Fireball in one of their homemade waffle cones. Fireball= cinnamon flavored ice cream with hot cinnamon sauce and hot cinnamon candies and Bittersweet Symphony = chocolate ice cream with coffee flavors and bits of chocolate chunks. It worked!

Try to pick up some of their deluxe ice cream cakes. I saw some through the window and they looked amazing!!

Anderson's

We had to go for the vanilla custard with rainbow sprinkles since Anderson's has been known for dishing out custard for years in Buffalo. Their ice cream is the silky, melts in your mouth kind of ice cream that everyone loves and the vanilla flavor is overwhelmingly creamy. With Anderson's, you can make a dinner out of your visit since you can get roast beef sandwiches and chili and cheese fries on top of any other options for a meal.

Custard Corner and Deli

This little hidden away custard place had a lot of custard options that we really wanted to try, but we kept it simple and ordered strawberry custard with sprinkles. It was a nice break from all that vanilla ice cream we're so used to having and its fruity flavor made me want more. The one down side we noticed was that for such a small place with great ice cream, Custard Corner tended to charge much more than the other custard places we visited, but the ice cream did not disappoint.
