The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation has given the green light to start construction of a new outdoor events center, which we hope will be hosting concert memories for years to come.

According to the ECHDC chairman Robert Gioria

The creative and adaptive reuse of the long-abandoned Terminal B site will open up this part of our scenic waterfront to the public with both passive and active recreation amenities. This project, which takes up only 5% of the 200-acre property, is just one part of a comprehensive plan developed over five years with the community. We are thrilled to move forward with the first phase of construction.”

The new venue will make use of a 100,000 sq. ft. metal framed warehouse, which has been utilized as a storage facility since 1967.  The construction will remove exterior walls, and a roof, which will help create the new space that will be transformed into the performance stage.  The project is part of a historic commitment by New York State to improve and expand access to outdoor recreation.

The $13 million dollar project, which will enhance the area by adding new trees, shrubs, and meadow areas, will get under way in the coming weeks and is expected to be completed sometime in 2023.
