Jack Eichel's goal in overtime gave the Buffalo Sabres a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday night.  It was the Sabres' first victory in Calgary in 14 years.

More importantly it was a positive response to that abysmal display of hockey on Saturday in Buffalo when the Sabres were completely outclassed in a 7-1 loss to Dallas.  Against the Flames the Sabres did all the little things you need to do to win a hockey game; they hit, they battled for the puck, they competed in front of the net and they got big saves from their goaltender and it paid off.

Chad Johnson got the start in goal and made 32 saves to pick up just his second win of the season.  Many of his stops were huge, something the Sabres have been lacking in recent games.

The two teams traded first period goals 24 seconds apart.  Scott Wilson scored the Buffalo goal - his second of the season.

The Sabres move on to play Edmonton on Tuesday night.
