Remember all those night you got your groove on at Hardware? Yeah, that was illegal.

It was news to us and the rest of Buffalo to learn that Allen Street staple Hardware had been operating without a city required dancing license. Not since Kevin Bacon strutted his stuff in Footloose have we had such a debate about dancing.

"We never had a dance permit, and still don't have one," owner Charlie Goldman said according to The Buffalo News.

They are trying to apply for one but with the years of not having one the city of Buffalo may turn down their application.

Food and drink is not the problem, Hardware is not... I repeat IS NOT!!! shutting down, just don't even think about shaking your groove thing in the back room until they have permit.

"Goldman – son of Buffalo restaurateur Mark Goldman – said dancing was only occurring in the back room of his Allen St. Hardware bar and restaurant. He hadn't known a permit was needed to have patrons dancing to the DJ, he said," again this is according to the Buffalo News.

We don't have all the facts and probably never will. Check out the full Buffalo News story here.
