Yes, it is true, and many Buffalonians are at a loss for words. Buffalo Bills running back and a pillar in the Buffalo community, Fred Jackson has been released from the Buffalo Bills' roster after nine seasons.

“Today, we had to make the difficult decision to release Fred Jackson,” said Bills GM Doug Whaley in a statement via BuffaloBills.com. “He had an incredible career for this organization for the past 10 years...Fred has inspired the city of Buffalo in a number of ways. Fred and his family have been dedicated to this community and we can’t thank them enough for their contributions through his career.”

The 34-year-old has been a permanent member of Buffalo's roster since 2007.

The Bills also released  defensive end Michael Buchanan, cornerback Ross Cockrell, defensive tackle Justin Hamilton, linebacker Andrew Hudson, offensive tackle Terren Jones, cornerback Ellis Lankster, safety Kenny Ladler, safety Wes Miller, guard DJ Morrell, defensive end Cedric Reed, and running back Ricky Seale.
