Dave Swanson is a writer and musician from Cleveland, Ohio. He has spent a lifetime obsessed with all things Rock & Roll.  Dave has written for a variety of publications including Shindig!, Bucketful Of Brains, The Cleveland Scene and The Cleveland Plain Dealer. He has hosted his own radio show, promoted concerts and played in several bands including, but not limited to, Rainy Day Saints, Guided By Voices, The Cynics, New Salem Witch Hunters, Death Of Samantha, and Captain Groovy & His Bubblegum Army.   Favorite bands-Cheap Trick, The Monkees, Sparks, Motorhead, Beach Boys, Rockpile, XTC,Van Der Graaf Generator, Sweet, Bob Dylan,etc. Favortie color- paisley. Sign-Scorpio. Favorite Movies-Love And Death, Don't Look Back & Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls.  Political party-Mod & Rocker. Religion-Rock & Roll. His biggest regret is having no regrets. If not playing, writing, reading about, listening to, or discussing music, he is most likely dead.

By the time they released 'The Birds, the Bees & the Monkees' in April 1968, the Monkees had been on a nonstop roller-coaster ride for a solid 15 months. Record after record, live appearances and shooting their TV show made for an exceptionally busy schedule. Except for the soundtrack to their movie 'Head,' which came out later in the year, 'The Birds, the Bees & the Monkees' would be the last album released by the original group.

10 Years Ago: Fleetwood Mac Release ‘Say You Will’

After the huge comeback success of the live reunion album, 'The Dance,' in 1997, Fleetwood Mac were back in a big way. The obvious questions started flying, asking about the chances of a new Mac LP. In spite of a short round of drama, they answered that question with the full-flying 'Say You Will, ' which was released on April 15, 2003. The album marked the return of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks to the clan, but also saw the departure of mainstay Christine McVie.

45 Years Ago: Beatles End Spiritual Retreat

On April 19, 1968, the Beatles parted ways with the Mararishi Mahesh Yogi. After submerging themselves in his teachings for what was supposed to be a three-month spiritual course, cracks began to appear. The band had flown to Rishikesh, India, in February 1968 along with friends like Donovan, Mia Farrow and the Beach Boys' Mike Love to begin an education in enlightenment.

On April 8, 1998, Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood was rescued by paparazzi from a yacht fire. Seems the legendary guitarist was out on a boat trip near Brazil, as another boat of paparazzi was on the chase behind to try and score some candid photos. As the otherwise mellow excursion proceeded, Wood's boat suddenly burst into flames.
