A strange and vaguely familiar character was introduced during last night’s episode of ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.’ The talk-show host married the looks of Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow and early-70s David Bowie into one, glamorous yet reverent character called “Tebowie.”
Suddenly band class in Los Angeles just got a whole lot cooler. Eddie Van Halen has donated 75 guitars from his personal collection to music programs in the L.A. area. The rocker teamed up with the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation to provide instruments to schools without enough for students to play.
Much like they did for the 2007-08 reunion tour, Van Halen has crossed genres in selecting an opening act for their 2012 tour. None other than Kool and the Gang will open the March 9 show at the First Niagara Center. The Van Halen tour kicks off Feb. 18 in Louisville, Ken.
Billy Gibbons doesn’t have to think hard about his best Christmas presents of all time. In an interview with Men’s Journal, the ZZ Top guitarist remembered one that changed his life. It was in 1962, and the young (likely clean-shaven) Gibbons was just 13-years-old.
While the name of Alice Cooper‘s yearly charity concert may cause one to taste breakfast a second time, the lineup for the 11th annual Welcome 2 My Pudding concert is unmistakably tasty. Film producer Graham King says he’s still planning on filming a biopic about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in 2012, and Sacha Baron Cohen is still planning on playing the lead role. It’d be a rare serious role for Cohen, best known for starring in films like ‘Borat (2006)’ and ‘Bruno (2009).’
