We've all become very reliant on the internet to do a lot of our day to day activities. From shopping to dating the internet has become like an appendage to our bodies. This opens up a new vulnerability to those that like to take advantage of people.

The Buffalo Police are now investigating several robberies that stem from cellphones being sold or bought on websites like Craigslist or Letgo. The robber will show interest in buying or selling and then when they come face to face to complete the transaction they rob the victim in person. And with how these sites are set up, the robbers can remain anonymous on the sites.

In a report from WIVB, Police are advising online sellers/buyers to follow these basic tips:

  • Don't go to an unfamiliar neighborhood
  • Meet in a public place
  • Choose a well-lit area.
  • Don't go alone
