Anderson Cooper Named 2013 Pussy Willow Prince

Last night on national television, CNN host Anderson Cooper devoted more than three minutes of time to Dyngus Day in Buffalo. Cooper featured the post-Lenten festival on the "RidicuList" segment on Andersen 360. Cooper apologized in a tweet today, saying he was calling his laughing fit stupid not Dyngus Day. But  the damage may have already been done. Now organizers of Dyngus Day Buffalo may have the last word, naming Cooper the Pussy Willow Prince.

"It's so stupid, really so stupid," said Cooper before he erupted into 70 seconds of uninterrupted on-air laugher. Cooper seemed baffled about the Dyngus Day tradition of squirting water and using pussy willows in a flirtatious manner as a sign of affection.  

"It sounds like a bunch of waterlogged drunk people hitting each other with sticks," continued Anderson. "There ain't no party like a Dyngus Day party cuz' a Dyngus Day party is the most random excuse to drink there is. And to the good citizens of Buffalo ringing out their clothes, tending to their beer and kielbasa hangovers and pussy willow welts today, happy belated Dyngus Day."   

"We take Dyngusing very serious in the Dyngus Day Capital of the World," said Eddy Dobosiewicz, Co-Founder of Dyngus Day Buffalo. Careful Eddy, You can already hear Cooper laughing at the word Dyngusing.  

Dobosiewicz will appear on AC360 tonight to defend the ancient art of Dyngusing to the rest of the country.

"Sure it's a great party filled with spirited adult revelry, but Polish Pride and the celebration of Easter are at the center of the day which is a highlight on the Buffalo social calendar."

In response, Dyngus Day Buffalo has invited Cooper to attend Dyngus Day 2013 and experience Dyngus Day for himself. 

"It's only appropriate that Cooper is named the 2013 Pussy Willow Prince as next year's Dyngus Day falls on April 1st...April Fools Day," explained Dobosiewicz. "A ride on the historic Fireboat Cotter, the world's largest Dyngus Day squirt gun, will also be on the Dyngus tour of Buffalo if Cooper accepts our invite." 

The invitation to attend Dyngus Day and the title of the "Pussy Willow Prince" will come in the form of a box loaded with Polish Sausage and pussy willows.

This afternoon organizers from Dyngus Day Buffalo staged a Pussy Willow Pride rally at Redlinski Meats to show Cooper a little Dyngus Day love and affection. No Squirt Guns necessary.
