A shooting has occurred south of Corning, NY this morning and a New York Trooper and the suspect have both been killed.

According to WETM, the trooper was responding to a domestic call early this morning when the shooting occurred. The call came in that a person had barricaded themselves in a house in the Southern Tier area.

Residents in the area told local news station 18 News that they had received a phone alert telling them to "stay inside and lock their doors."

UPDATE (3:53 PM): New York State Police have identified the trooper as 29-year-old Nicholas Clark. He was a lifelong resident of Steuben County and graduated from Canisteo-Greenwood High School. He had been with the NYS Police stationed in Bath, NY since 2015.
