Hitting a hole-in-one is an amazing accomplishment at any age, but it's extra special when you do it when you’re nearly a century old.

Ninety-six-year-old Mel Boonstra – that’s right, 96! – did just that when he aced the 110-yard par-3 first hole at Evergreen Golf Course in Grand Haven, Michigan earlier this month.

Boonstra has been golfing for over 50 years and this was his first hole-in-one.

Evergreen features a dozen par-3s and has been the home of holes-in-one for an eight-year-old and an 86-year-old, but that should in no way take away from Boonstra’s feat.

For his part, Boonstra, who plays the course every Tuesday, is enjoying the thrill, saying, "I'm surprised that I'm still golfing. I've slipped a lot this summer. Things change. I don't try to anticipate, I play for the moment. I still enjoy life and I'm blessed with friends."

Boonstra still loves the game and even managed to wax philosophical on it. Check him out below:
